Curfew for man who stole TV from Tesco
A man who stole a television from a Lerwick supermarket was spared a prison term when he appeared in court today.
Darren Lawson, 37, from the town’s Mill Lane, was instead ordered to wear a tag for 27 weeks when he appeared for sentence before Sheriff Philip Mann.
That means he will have to stay indoors from 7pm to 7am, seven days a week.
Lawson had previously admitted stealing the £499 set from Tesco on 25th January.
He had also pleaded guilty to stealing perfume from Laing’s Chemist in Commercial Street two days later.
Co-accused Calum Jamieson, 28, of St Olaf Street, had also played a part in that offence.
He also landed in trouble with the police when they found cannabis resin on him after he had been taken into custody.
Jamieson was fined £225 for acting with Lawson, but he was also ordered to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work for challenging nightclub doorstaff to a fight on 24th March, threatening police officers and head-butting the interior of a police vehicle while on bail.
