Queen’s man gives seal of approval to school’s jubilee celebrations
Pupils at Nesting Primary School gave up their holiday and spent the day together at school celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, including a wonderful red white and blue buffet.
Bobby Hunter arrived in the afternoon in his role as Lord Lieutenant, the Queen’s representative in the isles, and presented each of the pupils with a special Orkney and Shetland version of the jubilee coin.
They are pictured outside the school with one of this weekend’s classic cars. The silver Volvo was issued for Volvo’s golden jubilee but because 1977 was the Queen’s Silver Jubilee the car was brought out in silver. The car now belongs to Philip Gifford of Nesting.
