Oil leak of 64 barrels confirmed at Osprey field
The source of an oil leak 120 miles off Shetland has been identified, less than five days after initial reports of a sheen.
Around 64 barrels, or 8.7 tonnes of oil, spilled last week from an installation in the Osprey field operated by Fairfield Energy Ltd.
A statement released from Fairfield this afternoon said an ROV survey had now successfully identified the source of the subsea leak.
The company was now arranging for a diving support vessel to implement the necessary repairs.
