Young rugby pair’s national call

Two of Shetland’s young rugby players, Kieran Whyte and Brandon Taludker, have an exciting weekend to look forward to.

The pair are among the lucky children in Scotland to have been picked by the SRU to run on to the pitch with the Scottish team before the international match against Tonga at Pittodrie Stadium in Aberdeen.

Rugby coach Daniel Meadows said: “The boys’ names where picked out of a hat at random, but it has come as a well-deserved treat for the two.

“The commitment and passion shown by Brandon and Kieren over the last couple of years has been exceptional, and they are two very talented young players with a bright future in rugby.

“They will be running out alongside the national team and afterwards meeting players from both teams, getting the chance for pictures and a bit of autograph hunting.

“This is an experience that will stay with them for a long time, and will hopefully increase their enthusiasm for rugby even more.”
