Extra flights added amid ferry disruption

Loganair has added two additional flights this weekend because of the likelihood of disruption to the ferry services due to the weather.

Tonight’s southbound sailing from Lerwick to Aberdeen, which should have left at 7pm, has been cancelled and the northbound boat has also been cancelled. With strong south-easterly winds set to continue for several days, NorthLink is keeping weekend sailings under review.

Phil Preston, chief operating officer at Loganair, said: “Due to adverse weather conditions and the probability of ferry disruption over this weekend, Loganair has added two additional services between Aberdeen and Shetland on Saturday.”
