Lifeboat called to tow in creel boat

The Aith Lifeboat was called out yesterday to tow in a creel boat and its four crew after it suffered from engine failure.

The Lerwick-registered 10 metre creel boat Ivy Leaf was on passage from West Burrafirth to Sand when the engine overheated and started drifting from the shore.

Shortly before 8am they requested assistance directly from the Aith lifeboat crew who reached the vessel just after 9am. A towline was established between the lifeboat and the creel boat and Ivy Leaf, with four people on board, was towed to the salmon pier at Sand Voe.

The lifeboat was back at the station by noon, refuelled and ready for service.
