Plea for old mobiles
The CLAN Cancer Support charity is asking for donations of old mobile phones as its 2014 fund-raising campaign starts in earnest.
CLAN is appealing to anyone who may have received a new mobile phone over the festive period to donate their old handset with a view to it being recycled to raise money for the charity.
Fund-raising manager Susan Crighton said: “The start of the year is always a busy time for phone shops with many receiving a new handset over the festive period and we’re appealing to those who have old mobile phones lying around to donate them to CLAN, regardless of age and condition.
“The phones get recycled, helping us to raise funds for the charity so we really are grateful for the support of anyone who donates an old handset as part of the appeal.”
All money raised from the appeal will go towards CLAN’s provision of free support services to anyone affected by cancer across the north-east of Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.
Old handsets can be handed in at CLAN’s Shetland base at 39 Commercial Road in Lerwick.
