Shetland enjoyed victory in very closely-fought inter-county game, which could have swung either way.

Both sets of coaches could hardly watch as the game between the A-teams came to a close.

But Shetland always had the psychologically-important  lead at each interval, and came out in the fourth quarter determined for glory. Both teams should be congratulated for providing the spectators with an exciting, steely performance but it was Shetland who took the trophy 39-32.

Orkney may be disappointed, but their future looks positive, as many of their junior players make the transition onto the senior stage.

The B match was a low scoring, close fought encounter which could have seen either side emerge victorious.

Orkney were the more settled side throughout the 60 minutes, meeting the ball well, and executing passes with precision. Shetland, however, never fully recovered from losing Sanna Aitken early in the match, and was certainly the quieter of the two sides.

The game was extremely well handled by umpires Joanne Lilly and Lesley Shaw.
