Scott welcomes hospital review
Travel to and from Shetland and the waiting times for isles’ patients should be considered as part of an independent review of healthcare at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
That is the view of MSP Tavish Scott, who welcomed the news that the review will be completed.
It will assess the leadership, culture, values and behaviours at ARI and a report on the findings is expected to be published later this year.
Mr Scott said: “The independent assessment of care at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is very much needed. I know from a number of Shetland cases that there are issues to address. Some constituents have been waiting too long for both appointments and treatment and have faced cancellations where staff have not been available.
“Travel from Shetland is a further issue that local people have to factor in and delays can lead to further pressure on what is such a vital service. We need the NHS to be operating as efficiently as possible and therefore this independent review of care is an important step forward.”
