‘No’ vote means no advance (John Thomson)
I have just been wondering about all this nonsense from Better Together about Scotland re-applying to join the EU.
Some simple facts for people to consider:
• Scotland is at the moment part of the EU, and has been for 40 years.
• We are fully intergrated into all EU departments and systems.
• We meet all EU legal requirements.
• Why would the EU want us to leave?
• We have a major share of EU fishing grounds, and large part of EU oil reserves. Only a renegotiation of treaties are required to seperate Scotland from the rest of the UK,( the rest of the UK would also need to renegotiate their treaties).
• The EU actually has no system by which it can expel an existing member.
Shetlanders should be looking to having the same status as the Åland Islands.
With a “yes” vote Shetland can negotiate special status within their nation states and within the EU. A “no” vote means no advance for Shetland.
With a “yes” vote, in Scotland’s accession treaty negotiations Shetland can get specific provision with other island groups to be at the top table during EU decision making.

I feel the scaremongerers are trying too hard to make a case out of nothing. Some sensible negotiations would sort all this out before our independence date in 2016.

Are you sure it you that’s been wondering John or am I suffering from de-ja vu, you guys are so desperate you are copying each others letters word for word. So as well as no answers you have no original thoughts.
Brian Nugent
Gordon, you are right about one thing, this is getting like deja vue, Brian

SNP independence campaign, fiction fantasy containing a ministry of wondering, who’s function is to tell the campaigners what to think say and do.
john thomson
once again you are suffering from deja vu. you are still spouting about snp telling yes voters what to say. i am not a member of snp, and am looking forward to voting for a fairer govnment after our independence day
Gordon Harmer
If you are not being told what to say why this ? A copy of Brian Nugent’s letter posted on the same day as yours, the same grammar and spelling mistakes, word for word copied and pasted from letters that have been aired on more than this web site throughout Scotland. Grass roots campaign; this is the SNP who run the Yes campaign with tax payers money. Nothing fair or fairer about big brother Salmond telling folk who are claiming to be grass roots supporters what to write. Some coincidence that you and Brian just happened to be wondering about the same thing at the same time.

Chair
Yes Shetland”
Brian Smith
When George Jacobson and his Tory colleagues from the No campaign sent in a communique written by David Cameron, Gordon Harmer made no complaint.
Gordon Harmer
That Brian, is because he only sent it in once and did not start it by saying “I have just been wondering about” thereby insinuating they were his thoughts. You can try as hard as you want to defend it but it is indisputable proof this campaign is being led by and is all about the SNP when the Chair of Yes Shetland is told what to write on local web sites. Just to correct you the No campaign is a multiparty campaign not a Tory campaign, this may be difficult for you to understand as someone who changes his party allegiance when a favourable bandwagon come along.
Brian Smith
O goodness, whit party am I joined noo.

Oops BBC England cut the Scotland hockey team winning their gold by putting on some English athletics tens of thousands of Scots were infuriated, but then as I have stated before we are only a region as far as the BBC goes why is Darling debating with Salmond when it should be Cameron, not some lackey ,and finally Tory, Labour and Lib dem against Scottish independence, something stinks, but if you want more of the same misery , we have been subjected to, and believe me there will be more, then vote no change carpe diem , Saor Alba ( Sieze the day Free Scotland. )
Robert Duncan
Are you referring to an historic event, or have you got the wrong sport? Scotland haven’t won any golds in hockey.
Ali Inkster
Latin an Gaelic twa foriegn languages ta try an tell wis ta vote yes ta bidin we dem. BETTER AFF CLEAR O DA LOT O DEM.
Raymond Smith, Kirkwall
What hockey gold for Scotland??? Very proud of the Shetland lasses. Vote No
Gordon Harmer
This probably happened in 1066 as Henry tends to live in the past and he for some reason seems to think that Darling should debate with Cameron.
Henry while answering these questions could you please tell us what Scotland needs freeing from as there is a heavy lift barge in Breiwick bay, maybe it could help.
Henry Condy
Gentlemen, as you well know I was talking about the Scottish hockey teams game being taken of for some English event, same as last week the Tartan army was not allowed to watch the new world champions play Scotland on terrestrial TV, but five days later at 8pm peak viewing time what was on TV, England v Switzerland, better together, the smugness and condescing answers bowl me over, tell that to the working parents, responsible people who both have to work, then stand in a queue in a food bank, tell that to the children who go to school on an empty belly, tell that to the 2000pensioners who died in the winter two years ago, because Cameron took £50 of their winter heating allowance, and lives rent free himself, whilst he gave the Queen an £5,000,000 payrise, then two weeks later a 5% tax cut, it stinks of Thatchers greed is good and I’m all right Jack damn you, I don’t have fancy university degrees or such , but I do care about people and that is why I will vote for a Scottish government who cares for it’s sick, disabled and disadvantaged I just do not understand why we cannot look out for each other ,Westminster gives the cash to Scotland and when it chooses cuts that amount, thus causing the Scottish government to cut services throughout Scotland.it is so simple, vote yes for a caring society
