Flaws hopes to progress in singles tournament
Shetland table tennis star Lynda Flaws won comfortably this afternoon in her first game of the Women’s Singles tournament in Glasgow.
Flaws played Angelisa Freeman of St Kitts and Nevis and ran out the 4-0 winner after 16 minutes of play.
She took the first set 11-9 and then dominated her opponent taking the next three 11-5, 11-6, 11-2. That victory means Flaws should be relatively fresh when she takes on Jamaica’s Yvonne Foster at 7.30pm in the preliminary rounds of the competition.
However, Foster also defeated Freeman 4-0. Following the preliminary round the successful players enter a round of 64 when the competition enters a knock-out stage.
