Crime wave to hit North Boat

Serco NorthLink Ferries is set to welcome a best-selling crime author on board tomorrow.

Passengers will have the chance to meet Ann Cleeves, the writer best known for her murder mystery tales based in Shetland, as she travels from Kirkwall to Lerwick on Thursday 11th September.

Every passenger onboard will also receive a free copy of Blue Lightning, the fourth book in the Shetland Islands series.

Cleeves will be heading north as she joins forces with Orkney and Shetland Libraries for “24 Islands/24 Hours”, a series of events celebrating reading, writing and libraries in a 24 hour race against the clock.

From 3pm tomorrow to 3pm on Friday there will be events on 24 islands in Orkney and Shetland, culminating in the launch of Cleeves’ new Shetland novel, Thin Air, at Britain’s most northerly library at Baltasound in Unst.

Serco NorthLink managing director Stuart Garrett said: “We are delighted to welcome Ann on board, offering a memorable experience for our passengers.

“Ann is a talented writer and we look forward to what is sure to be a unique journey.”
