Good demand at flock book sale
Shetland Livestock Marketing Group, in conjunction with Aberdeen & Northern Marts, sold 95 Shetland rams at the flock book sale on Saturday.
The quality and demand was excellent, a spokesman said, with a near total clearance of rams.
Shearlings (two-shear and older): £2,000 Moustoft, Weisdale; £900 Kurkigarth, Weisdale; £800 Doonbye, Ollaberry; £750 Islesburgh, Sullom; £620 Aikerness, Evie; £580 South Collafirth, Ollaberry; £520 Gremista Farm, Gremista; £480 Swarthoull, Skeld; £400 Swinister, Ollaberry.
Ram lambs: £520, £500 & £400 Moustoft, Weisdale; £280 Haggersta, Whiteness; £250 Vementry, Aith; £240 Swarthoull, Wester Skeld; £200 Virse, Haroldswick.
Also on Saturday, Shetland Livestock Marketing Group, again in conjunction with Aberdeen & Northern Marts, sold 12 head of pure Shetland cattle at the inaugural “i-bidder” sale.
A total clearance was effected and more could have been sold, the spokesman said.
Cow with heifer calf at foot: £1,000.
Heifer calves: £500 Doonbye, Ollaberry; £400 Islesburgh, Sullom.
Yearling heifers: £740 Doonbye, Ollaberry; £620 Westerloch, Burravoe.
Two-year-old heifers: £600 Uradale, East Voe.
In-calf heifers: £840 South Collafirth, Ollaberry.
