Leask breaks her own Shetland 800 metres record
Jim TaitIsles runner Emma Leask set a new Shetland record in the 800 metres at the British Milers Club meeting in Trafford last night.
Her time was 2:08:26, beating her own previous record which she set in 2013.
Leask said she was really happy to get a new personal best in the 800 metres before the NatWest Island Games at the end of this month. It was a great confidence boost.
She said: “I do still feel like there’s more to come in terms of times but I’m not too worried about times at the island games. I’s all about tactics and running the right race in Jersey.
“Hopefully I can get it right on the day but I know I’m up against some tough competition.”
Leask will be running the 400 metres at the Scottish Women’s League in Edinburgh on Sunday which will be her last race before the games.
She will be competing for Aberdeen Athletics Club which she trains with while studying Physiotherapy at Robert Gordon University.
