Accused of stealing charity box

A man has been told to abide by a curfew after allegedly stealing a charity box from a restaurant.

John Gibson, 42, of Bruce Crescent in Lerwick is accused of helping himself to the tin, containing a sum of money, from the Gurkha Kitchen on Monday.

Gibson is also said to have obstructed police officers and threatened them to a fight – actively resisting lawful detention, while on bail.

Gibson was brought from custody to the dock at Lerwick Sheriff Court today.

His case before honorary sheriff Willie Shannon was continued without plea until 14th October.

But he was ordered to keep to a night-time curfew aimed at keeping him indoors from 7pm to 7am. He also accepted a special condition not to go near the Gurkha Kitchen.
