Police operation targets inconsiderate driving in isles
Police in Shetland carried out a specific operation to target bad driving on Shetland’s roads last week.
Officers involved in “Operation Route” charged more than 30 people, including for inconsiderate driving, between last Wednesday and Friday.
The police said the “intelligence-led patrols” were aimed at “anyone using the road to facilitate crime”, or travelling to or from the scene of a crime, as well as driving offences.
The operation was led by PC Calum MacAulay and resulted in one driver being charged with dangerous driving, two drivers charged for insurance offences and two drivers charged for crimes “relating to justice”.
A further 27 were charged for speeding and other miscellaneous road traffic offences, and one person was found in possession of controlled drugs.
One driver was apprehended for drink driving, which resulted in vehicle forfeiture.
Some of those caught would be reported to the procurator fiscal, the police said.

I remember when I was younger, the police did these types of checks as a routine part of their jobs.
These days its all targeted “campaigns” then back for a scone and butter at our 9-5 police station.
I’m not knocking the police, its not their fault they’re only allowed to target criminals fir a third of their shifts.
Perhaps a bit less paperwork and PC(politically correct) “managers” would let then out on the streets to prevent crime, rather than respond to it.

On thursday a car overtook me goin up passed the golf cousre at Dale, a on coming car flashed its lights at it as it was so close to hitting it, the oncoming car turned out to be a police car, it did nothing else just left the car to carry on its journey, that wis not much of a clamp down on stupid drivers

A few weeks ago I saw a police pick up over taking a coach near Girlsta. By the time they pulled in before it they were on a blind corner. There were no blue lights flashing. It seems to be one set of rules for them and another for everyone else.
