A family-run welding and fabrication business based in the central mainland will shortly be celebrating its first year of operation housed in their brand new premises located close to Tingwall Airport.
Scott Welding & Fabrication Ltd has been in business for over nine years, trading from premises in Whiteness, however, two years ago owners Gary and Pamela Scott made the decision to expand and earlier this year moved into their modern purpose built workshop that is equipped with professional up-to-date welding and engineering machinery.
Since moving into their new premises, Gary has continued to supply major clients in the aquaculture industry in mainland UK and exporting overseas as well as marine and civil engineering companies in Shetland, while still addressing the need for the customers who drop by the workshop with smaller individual items. “It’s personal service from start to finish, no matter what the size or quantity required,” said Gary. Reputation for quality work is important and that applies to all his welding and fabrication jobs.
A large portion of the work performed by Gary is for the aquaculture and marine industries, which has been a major part of Gary’s upbringing. He had an early education in the salmon industry through working with his parents Jim and Josephine Scott. He was versed in every aspect of the industry, and this has proved “invaluable” – when salmon farmers come to him, “I know what they’re talking about.”
He added: “With over 25 years of experience in the aquaculture and marine industry I now have the facilities to expand with this type of work allowing me to do even more for companies and individuals within these industries. Firms are looking for the best price and service with a good quality finish and that’s exactly what we provide.”
Scott Welding & Fabrication Ltd are going from strength to strength and look forward to building on a successful first 12 months in their new premises.
It took two years of hard work to get the workshop built and ready to operate and both Gary and Pamela would like to thank the HIE (Highlands and Islands Enterprise) and the council’s economic development department, who have supported the project from the onset and are continuing to do so.
