Birdwatchers headed for Lerwick as fast as they could on Saturday to catch a glimpse of the mega rare North American mourning dove found by Austin Taylor – a first Shetland record and a fifth for Britain.
The dove which “just appeared” in Austin’s garden for about five minutes at about noon on Saturday stayed around Murrayston for a while. Austin said: “I think it should probably be on the other side of the Atlantic. [It] caused a bit of a stir anyway.”
