Early disruption warning from ferry operator
It may seem like Storm Gertrude has done her worst, but NorthLink have issued an early disruption warning for the beginning of the week.
The ferry operator says severe weather forecast for Monday and Tuesday is “highly likely” to adversely affect all its services.
Meanwhile, tonight’s southbound sailing of the Hrossey may be subject to minor delays because of conditions. She is scheduled to leave Holmsgarth at 7pm. The northbound sailing of the Hjaltland to Kirkwall and Lerwick is due to leave Aberdeen at 5pm, as scheduled.
Freight sailings should run as planned tonight, although Pentland crossings have sailed to an amended timetable today.
Snow has fallen in some parts today, causing disruption on the main road north out of Lerwick and at the Black gaet.
Meanwhile, this picture of Scalloway being battered by Storm Gertrude yesterday has been sent in by Richard Ashbee.
