Sailings facing ‘high probability’ of cancellation
NorthLink says tomorrow night’s sailings both north and south are under review, with a “high probability” of cancellation.
It follows a previous warning that services were facing disruption at the beginning of the week in the face of severe conditions.
Freight services could also be affected, with Monday night’s sailing of the Hildasay from Lerwick to Aberdeen facing likely disruption.
An up-date is expected tomorrow morning.
Storm Gertrude battered the isles on Friday, causing damage in some parts. Snow on Saturday also brought disruption to motorists who became caught in the conditions.
The North Isles were badly affected by the storm. This picture sent from Desley Ritch in Unst was taken after a caravan came through the wall of the back car park at Baltasound Hotel at lunchtime on Friday.
The outer wall of a council house in Uyeasound collapsed, while the roof was blown off a shed in Baltasound. Meanwhile, an old boating clug shed was demolished, while a polytunnel was torn apart.
• See The Shetland Times on Friday for more coverage and pictures on the storm.
