Man remanded on drugs charges
A man accused of producing cannabis at his home has declared himself on hunger strike after being remanded in custody.
Ian Leask, 50, of Prospect House in Lerwick’s Law Lane was denied bail when he appeared in the dock before honorary sheriff Eric Peterson.
Leask is charged with producing the Class B substance at his home over a five month period until 11th February.
Trial was set for 17th March, with an intermediate diet – via video link – on 1st March.
Bail was refused. But on being led from the dock, Leask declared: “I am on hunger strike from this day on. Thank you for sentencing me to torture.”
