Enlarged Brae Co-op will provide 12 new jobs in area
A new Co-operative food store at Hillside in Brae should be open soon, creating 12 new jobs in the area.
The enlarged premises, being built on the car park of the existing store, represents a £1.4 million investment by the Co-operative Group.
With three times as much selling space as the original building, the new outlet will focus on fresh food and groceries. It will also include a new-look post office and later in the year a cash machine service will be available.
Co-op area manager Myles MacDonald said: “We are thrilled to have made such a significant investment in Brae and delighted that we will have a fantastic new food store with which to serve the community– it is an exciting time for the whole team.
“Once the new store opens the old one will be demolished in order to create space for a car park so we would ask our loyal customers to bear with us during this further period of disruption.
“However, by the middle of the year we will have one our very latest looking stores with considerable car parking with which to serve the public at the north of the island including the inner islands.”
