Motors restricted at classic car show

It may be the greatest irony of the year so far, but cars are being restricted at the classic motor show – although there are still expected to be plenty of impressive machines on display.

Construction of the new games hall at Clickimin means space normally reserved for exhibits has been lost, and that means some of the motors that would have occupied that space are ending up on the stretch of road adjacent to the running track – space previously available for visitors to park in.

The upshot is that no public parking is available inside the complex grounds for the duration of the June show, except for disabled visitors.

Organisers say a park and ride shuttle service will instead be in operation from the Knab – the tarmac area at the corner of Knab Road and Gressy Loan.

In keeping with the flavour of the event, at least part of the service will be provided by classic buses.

Public parking will be available over the show weekend at Hayfield House, Gilbertson Park and Bells Brae Primary School.
