Classic Motor Show turns up a treat
The 17th Classic Motor Show is ongoing now, with plenty of exhibits to see.
However, this year’s show allows visitors to experience more of the exhibits than they have ever done before.
A handful of cars, most notably Shaun Simpson’s General Lee – a 1969 Dodge Charger V8 – are offering tours aimed at raising much-needed funds for two very worthy causes, Disability Shetland and Mind Your Head.
Mr Simpson said the show represented a great opportunity to raise money for charity.
“I just wanted to do something different, because there were people saying they were wanting to hear the engine, wanting to hear the horn.
“So many people, who I don’t know, came up and said ‘I’d like to go for a run in this some day.’ I just thought it would be a perfect opportunity to raise a bit of money for two good local charities and put a bit of a grin on folks’ faces.”
A park and ride service is running from the Knab, allowing some visitors to travel in classic buses.
Visiting exhibitors have come from as far afield as Germany and Denmark to enjoy the show. As well as some 200 cars, 150 motorcycles are at the Clickimin, as well as bicycles, models and various other memorabilia.
