Record turnout for half marathon
The good weather finally returned for the Simmer Dim Half Marathon – and brought out a record number of runners.
After a number of years of cool, wet and windy conditions the weather was nigh perfect.
The record field of 78 runners set off from Cunningsburgh and it was obvious from the outset that Matthew Cox (M45) meant business in the men’s race, winning in 1:25:31.
The battle for second was fought out by two Wisharts, with Richard (1:29:09) edging out Andrew (1:29:27).

In the women’s race Charlotte Black (F40) retained her title in 1:31:59. Second woman home was Isla Mackay from Lochaber in 1:40:11. Third woman home was Kristen Jeromson in 1:47:40.
Organiser Paul Woods was delighted with the weather and the fantastic turnout. He praised the support of all those that volunteered on the day, the local Raynet group, the British Red Cross, John Leask & Son for the “Runner Express”. Without all their support, community events such as this simply wouldn’t happen.
