Eyesore at Clickimin (James R Hutton)
I have been observing with interest the construction, or to put it more accurately the assembly, of the latest addition to the sports and leisure facilities at Clickimin.
I am led to understand that what would appear to be a tarpaulin-like covering is, in fact … “it” … so to speak.
What were our planning officials thinking of giving approval to the building of this eyesore at this focal point of beauty in Lerwick.
Never mind, by the looks of it, the “building” will be blown halfway to Bergen come the first bit of decent wind before the end of the year. Problem solved.

It better looking than all that old cars you have littering my street.

Known as a ‘Rub’, a hangar like this was built in the Falkland Islands during our stay there this last 14 months. I didn’t believe that it would stand up to the wind, especially when the hangar doors were open in the face of a north westerly gale, and yes it can blow down there. With the inside frame clad like the outside and heating it was perfectly fine. To look at it may be an eyesore to some but, like toys of old, it can be dismantled
