Breast screening disruption

The mobile breast screening service at Clickimin in Lerwick was slightly disrupted yesterday after radiographers were unable to fly to the isles because of fog.

The service had been due to restart but the radiographers were delayed, only arriving in the evening. The breast screening resumed on this morning.

NHS Shetland spokeswoman Barbara Foran said: “We apologise for the disruption to the service and the inconvenience this caused.

“Anyone wishing to rearrange their 11th July appointment should contact the Breast Screening Centre on (01224) 550570.

“We would like to reassure those who had appointments for 11th July, who may not have been able to contact the unit, that the breast screening service will be in touch with them direct with a new date for their appointment.”
