Shetland lose out 2-1 in semi-final clash

Blues boss Niall Bristow says there are lots of positives to take from the semi-final clash with Invergordon this afternoon.

The blues lost 2-1 in the blustery and wet encounter in Halkirk, missing out on a place in the final of the

Football Times Cup.

Shetland conceded two goals within the first 15 minutes of the first half however Joel Bradley bundled the ball over the line from a set piece with 10 minutes to go.

Bristow believed it was a fairly even first half and Shetland played “some good stuff”.

Invergordon took their chances though and Shetland went into the break with a two-goal deficit.

Bristow said Shetland gave a very strong showing in the second half, with their opponents only managing one effort from distance.

Several younger players featured for the blues, and despite not reaching the final, the coach believed there were lots of positives.

“Today was only one match but there were a lot of encouraging signs from all the young players,” Bristow said.

“There were far more positives than negatives.”
