Macy, 12, was accompanied by her family during the trip down to London after being lucky enough to be shortlisted for the role for the match on 23rd October.

Both her father Gerald and brother Luca are avid Chelsea fans so she was always destined to follow in their footsteps, having little other choice. Luca was also a mascot back in 2014.

After being on the waiting list for nearly six and half years Macy was contacted and delighted to be chosen as the mascot.

Her father said: “She took the whole experience in her stride with nothing fazing her on the momentous occasion.”

On arriving she met all the first team players in the changing room, accompanied by her father, was delighted to pose for numerous photos with each of the players and thrilled to have a shirt and football autographed as a keepsake.

Boisterous

Macy was keen to get on to the pitch and was by no means daunted as they were cheered on by a boisterous 43,000 crowd at a packed Stamford Bridge. She walked through the tunnel and onto the park accompanied by Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta.

After all the handshakes and formalities she lined up with officials and team captains for a final photo prior to kick off.

Chelsea did not disappoint, scoring their first goal within 30 seconds and even before Macy and her family had managed to get to their allocated seats behind the dugout.

The family watched an excellent match where the home team went onto score a further three goals, making it an unhappy return to Chelsea for Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

Macy thoroughly enjoyed her experience, made all the better by the result.
