Chemical incident at Girlsta hatchery
Fire crews have been called out to a chemical incident at Girlsta hatchery this morning.
Two fire engines from Lerwick arrived after receiving a call at 10.30am, with police also in attendance.
Police officers blocked off the road leading to the site.
A fire service spokesman said “crews have isolated the chemical and have ventilated the area and there was an outer cordon established.
“Fire crews isolated an ozone leak and had gas tight suits and two breathing apparatus in use.
“One male was taken to hospital prior to the fire service arrival for a check up but was later released.”
Fire crews left the scene at about 12.50pm.
