Festive travellers offered chance to change flights after weather warning

Loganair flights will not be affected by strike action taking place at UK airports by baggage handlers employed by ground handling company Swissport.

But Loganair is offering passengers booked on flights on the Friday and Saturday before Christmas the chance to change their bookings free of charge after poor weather was forecast.

Met Office aviation forecasts for 23rd and 24th December suggest that “some particularly strong winds could prevail throughout Scotland”. If the forecasts materialise, it may cause disruption to flights.

Loganair says anyone holding a reservation on a Flybe flight operated by Loganair on those days within Scotland, can transfer their booking to any Loganair flight on the same route from tomorrow – Tuesday 20th December.

The Loganair website states: “Loganair flights will be unaffected by strike action taking place at UK airports by staff members of ground handling company Swissport – our flights are handled by a different ground handling agent, Menzies Aviation.”

It adds: “Although there’s plenty of time between now and then for the weather forecasts to change, or for the weather fronts bringing these strong winds to miss Scotland completely, we want to offer as much peace of mind as we can.”

It states anyone booked to fly on either of those dates can transfer “to any Loganair flight on the same route departing as early as tomorrow” without any additional charge.
