Banks take part in campaign to cut money scams
Banks in Lerwick have taken part in a national campaign to raise awareness of money scams.
A local police officer visited Santander, RBS, Clydesdale, Bank of Scotland and TSB yesterday, spending an hour at each branch.
It was part of Take Five, a scheme to help people and businesses stop fraud from the likes of email deception and phone calls.
Santander branch manager Farhad Irvani, said: “We’re proud to take part in this important initiative to help the fight against financial fraud.
“Scams can come in many forms and falling victim can have devastating consequences. It is therefore so important that people make sure they’re aware of the different types of scams and know how to stay safe.
“We encourage everyone in Lerwick to visit their local branch and spread the Take Five message – to pause and think before they respond to any financial requests or share any personal or financial details.”
