Sponsors announced for second Shetland Boat Week festival
The main sponsors for this year’s Shetland Boat Week, organised by Shetland Amenity Trust, have been announced.
Lerwick Port Authority have committed support alongside last year’s sponsors Ocean Kinetics and Serco NorthLink Ferries.
Event co-ordinator Emma Miller said all three organisations were prominent and highly supportive of the local community, making them perfect sponsors for the event, which runs from 7th to 13th August.
Ms Miller said: “We are delighted to receive financial support from our three main sponsors, which will enable us to make the second Shetland Boat Week bigger and better than the first.
“The support we have had from our sponsors, and the wider community, has been fantastic and shows a real desire for this type of event; celebrating our maritime heritage alongside the modern industry.”
The range of events has increased this year, with additional boat trips planned and more boats on display. Favourites from last year including the tours of the NorthLink vessel and local pelagic boat Adenia will also be available alongside a series of talks, exhibitions and activities.
The keynote speaker for 2017 is Matthew Tanner, chairman of the ss Great Britain Trust.
The full programme will be officially launched on 2nd May and bookings will open for events at that time.
