Double folk awards delight for Kris Drever
Isles-based singer-songwriter Kris Drever has won two prestigious awards at this year’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in London.
The Orcadian musician, who now lives in Quarff, was named Folk Singer of the Year, as well as winning Best Original Track for If Wishes Were Horses at the ceremony in the Royal Albert Hall.
The song is the title track of Drever’s 2016 album, inspired in part by his move to Shetland.
Drever is also a member of experimental folk trio LAU who have been recipients of multiple BBC Radio 2 Folk gongs previously.
Following his success, he will be appearing tomorrow on the BBC Breakfast TV show.
