Lerwick shop seeks permission to deliver alcohol to customers

A Lerwick shop has applied for a licence to deliver beers, wines and spirits to customers who call or access an online app.

Staney Hill Shop’s application to the SIC was supported by Lerwick Community Council at its latest meeting last night (Monday).

Council member Gary Robinson said: “My understanding is that because of Covid-19, a lot more folk are getting messages delivered and they can’t deliver alcohol without the variation of their licence.

“There’s quite a few places that are doing it already, so I don’t have any issue with it.”

The application to offer “remote sales” says orders will be accepted by “telephone, app and via the website” .

Orders would be processed at the shop in Norstane, ready for delivery or collection.

The SIC’s licensing board gave notice of the application on 1st July.

Any objections must be made by 27th July.
