Private appearance on assault charges

A man appeared in private at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday facing three assault charges.

William Mays was released on bail after being charged with two counts of assault and one count of assault to severe injury.

Mays, whose address was given as Shetland, was also charged with an air weapon offence.

The 46-year-old appeared from custody, made no plea and was committed for further examination.
