Upper Kergord road to be closed after damage during SSE construction work
The B9075 Upper Kergord road will be closed for at least a week after damage during construction work for Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE).
The SIC’s roads department said the road between the Kergord and Sandwater junction would be closed between 9am and 5pm, from Friday, 24th September to Friday, 1st October.
Surfacing repairs will need to be carried out “following damage to the road during construction work for SSE”.
The resurfacing works will be paid for by SSE, and undertaken by BAM Nuttall – not the SIC.
The SIC said the availability of Bitmac for the scord may extend the duration.

Will VE compensate anyone from the Westside commuting to SV due the the extra miles they will now have to drive?

It’s the local Authority’s job to supply an maintain suitable infrastructure so as to enable businesses and the public to go about there Business ,
If the said infrastructure is substandard then surely the local authority is at fault ,!

Would think not, they don’t even need to sort the road as the council did not make road replacement a planning condition.

I did not realise that the industrialisation of central Shetland included renaming areas. That is not a photograph of the Upper Kergord road – it is taken from the Sandwater junction. The Upper Kergord road runs from just east of the Setter brig in a northerly direction. It is a very minor road but was a popular walk for many people before the construction traffic arrived.

Good points here. Especially like the query about renaming places.
