Amada comes to the isles
THE ARCHES Touring Theatre Company is coming to Shetland for the first time and will perform their new show Amada as part of the 2008 Shetland Arts theatre programme.
Based on a short story by acclaimed Chilean writer Isabel Allende, Amada centres on one woman’s journey through a tragically touched life, a homage to the dignity found within the oldest profession in the world.
The show will be performed in the Garrison Theatre on Wednesday, 17th September at 7.30pm. In addition to the performance the company will kick-start the Peerie Willie Guitar Festival with a guitar workshop in the Anderson High School on 18th September.
Guitarist Galo Ceron, who performs live on stage during Amada, will lead the workshop with higher and advanced gigher students on classical guitar techniques. He has previously performed in Shetland with the band Salsa Celtica.
Tickets for the show, priced at £8 and £6 concessions, are available from Islesburgh on (01595) 692114.
A spokesman said Shetland Arts was grateful to NorthLink Ferries for sponsorship to assist with the costs of travel.
