Food and drink award for Grieg
GRIEG Seafood Hjaltland has won one of this year’s Scotland Food and Drink – Highlands and Islands awards.
The Shetland salmon farming company picked up the Environment Award, sponsored by Aquascot, at a ceremony at the Drumossie Hotel, Inverness, last Friday.
The awards, supported by Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Forum and Williamson Foodservice, celebrate excellence and achievement in the food and drink industry in the area.
Grieg Seafood Hjaltland managing director Michael Stark said: “We are delighted to have won such a prestigious award. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire workforce.
“As the producer of over a third of Shetland’s salmon, with over 30 sea sites in operation around the islands, we are constantly aware of our environmental responsibilities. We rely on a clear and unpolluted environment to optimise production and protect the reputation of our fish. We are committed to working and sharing knowledge with key conservation bodies to develop a long-term plan that will help to set standards for the aquaculture industry in fulfilling its role in sustaining the environment in which it operates.”
