MP keeps up the pressure on Flybe
NORTHERN Isles MP Alistair Carmichael has tabled an early day motion at Westminster calling on Flybe to “drastically” reduce its credit and debit card charges.
The budget airline has come under increasing pressure to reverse its introduction of the charges and scores of people have already signed a petition, launched by The Shetland Times last week and backed by 19 of the isles’ councillors as well as Mr Carmichael and Shetland MSP Tavish Scott.
Mr Carmichael’s motion argues that Flybe is exploiting its monopoly position and calls for a return to the charging policy of outgoing operator British Airways.
Anyone who wants to sign the petition, which will be presented to Flybe and franchise operator Loganair at a later date, can do so by filling in the coupon printed right and returning it marked Flybe Petition to The Shetland Times Editorial, Gremista Industrial Estate, Lerwick, ZE10PX or by sending an email to [email protected].
