Oil ships in town

There were several oil related arrivals at Lerwick Harbour on Wednesday. The Boa Fortune from Singapore called in at the Greenhead Base before sailing to Aberdeen, as did the standby vessel the Dea Sailor from the Bahamas before returning to the Don oilfield.

The Whalsay ferry Linga was back from her refit and was at Alexandra Wharf on Thursday before heading to Whalsay.

The NAFC Marine Centre yacht Moder Dy also arrived on Thursday before sailing to Scalloway, as did the Norwegian fishing boat Torbas, which arrived at Gremista with blue whiting.

The barge H-122 from Panama called on Friday, as did the Portuguese tug Braveheart, both of which had arrived from Vlissingen. The Braveheart later sailed to Flushing in Cornwall.

Another load of blue whiting came in from Norwegian vessels on Friday and Sunday – first the Mogsterfjord, which landed at Gremista, followed by the Talbor on Sunday.

Monday was a busier day with 20 arrivals and 22 sailings, including the workboat Rubymay called into the Small Boat Harbour.

On Tuesday the British workboat Shjandur called at Holmsgarth and then sailed on to Scalloway.

The Sina B arrived on Wednesday, as did the Antiguan cargo ship which arrived from Fraserburgh with a load of sand. There was also a visit from the Russian drill ship Bavenit, which was at Victoria Pier for repairs.
