First cruise ship of the year arrives

Excellent weather, and the arrival of the cruise ship Deutschland, has meant a busy week at Lerwick Harbour.

The Statsraad Lehmkuhl, always a welcome sight in Lerwick, had a 24-hour stay in the harbour before sailing to Bergen, and three yachts arrived. The furthest travelled was the Nomad from USA which berthed at Victoria Pier South.

There was plenty of regular business too. Last Friday the West Stream sailed to Amsterdam with fish oil from Heogan.

The Yell ferry Dagalien arrived on Sunday before going to dry dock in Aberdeen on Tuesday. The Norwegian general cargo boat Fame came to the harbour on Monday for a crew change and sailed with a cargo of salmon feed.

On Wednesday the Belgian tug President Hubert, which is working on the North West Hutton field, arrived at Greenhead Base.

There were various oil-related arrivals, including the small St Vincent-registered chase boat Mary Ann 1, working with the Norwegian seismic boat Bos Angler. Both were at the harbour’s north entrance on Friday.

Only one pelagic boat visited – the Research arriving on Wednesday from Norway. The Ramform Viking and the Loch Rannoch were at the north and south entrances respectively, providing work for the harbour boats Knab and Kebister.
