Salmon heads to Holyrood
A local salmon producer was invited to a high-profile event at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh on Wednesday.
Shetland Products, part of Grieg Seafood Hjaltland, joined the ASDA Scottish local team at its “Taste of Scotland” parliamentary reception in the garden lobby at Holyrood.
The aim of the event was to showcase ASDA’s work supporting Scottish local products, and also tie in with the Scottish Government’s Homecoming theme.
Shetland Products presented four of the varieties from its WildWaters smoked salmon range – pastrami, orange pepper, caipirinha and limoncello – which were recently launched in eight ASDA stores on the Scottish mainland.
The reception was attended by over 300 people including all the MSPs along with representatives from the NFU, Scotland Food & Drink and Grampian Food Forum.
Representing Shetland Products were Stella Winks, Pia Laschinger and Jim Gourley.
Stella lives in Trondra and is based at Lerwick in sales and logistics and initiated the contact with the ASDA buying team. Pia lives in Lerwick and is from the quality control department, with a great deal of smokehouse experience. Jim is based on the Scottish mainland and having recently joined Shetland Products, has many years experience from the fish industry.
