Stout launches book
Shetland fiddler Chris Stout has launched his first book of music entitled The Chris Stout Collection – Volume One.The collection follows his journey as a musician and composer to date and features an eclectic mix of tunes ranging from the very traditional to others which display his own unique style of contemporary writing.
Additionally, the book features tunes that will be accessible to those learning the fiddle, together with more challenging pieces for the more advanced musician, along with personal and insightful notes to accompany the melodies. Stout has recorded the tunes over the years on various albums, either with Fiddlers’ Bid, his own quintet or long time musical associate Catriona McKay. Many of the tunes, such as Hamnataing, have already become popular all over the world.
He said: “I’m delighted that the book has finally been released and I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out. It’s basically an attempt to collate all the work over my career to date. I hope everyone gets as much enjoyment from the music as I have over the years.”
The book will be available in local shops from Monday.
