Van driver to be reported for dangerous manoeuvre

A DRIVER is to be reported to the procurator fiscal after performing a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre which almost led to a head-on collision at Voe on Saturday afternoon.

There was a near miss after the 32-year-old, driving a red Ford van, overtook two cyclists in the face of an oncoming silver Ford Mondeo travelling north on the A970 road by the public toilets at Voe at around 1.45pm.

Police are looking to trace the cyclists, believed to be a man and a young boy, and are requesting that they contact Lerwick police station on (01595) 692110.
