Web designer to visit world-renowned MIT

Shetland-based web designer David Nicol of NB Communication has been nominated to attend a week-long entrepreneurship programme in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

He will join five other delegates from the Highlands and Islands at the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Entrepreneurship Centre at the end of this month.

NB Communication Ltd is a web design and internet marketing specialist which has developed many of Shetland’s leading company websites.

Mr Nicol, who initially trained as a lawyer and formerly worked in enterprise development for local government, founded the company in 2002 and is now looking to expand beyond Shetland.

He said: “We know we will have to radically change how we do our marketing and sales effort to win clients much further afield and it’s a challenge we are ready for.

“I’m really excited about attending the EDP at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It’s going to be a real culture shock for me coming from Scotland, but the people who run the course have all been incredibly successful with their own ventures and I am looking forward to meeting other entrepreneur delegates who are flying in from all corners of the world. It will be great to share ideas.”
