Jones on form as JBT taste victory

Due to snowy weather only one volleyball match was played at the weekend. The remaining matches will be rescheduled for later in the season.

BP Sullom Voe Men’s League

JBT 3, Harry’s Hotspurs 0
(25-10, 25-18, 25-10)

It was a fairly even start from both teams and then a good run of serves from Mark Loynd took JBT into a 14-7 lead. A long rally brought the score to 21-7 to JBT but Hotspurs got the serve back at 22-8. They were unable to hold it, however, and JBT went on to win 25-10.

A good run of serves from Kevin Jones got JBT off to a good 8-4 start in the second set. Hotspurs fought hard in all the rallies but a good run of serves from Grant Polson forced Hotspurs to call a time out at 19-10. Another good rally won by Hotspurs gave them serve back and they were able to notch up a few points taking the score to 22-13. Serves went back and forth until JBT won 25-18.

The third set started with a good long rally which JBT won. Loynd then went on to have a couple of good serves, followed by Polson who brought the score to 6-1. There followed a great rally with some superb play from both teams, then Hotspurs took serve back and won a couple of points to take the score to 7-3.

A good run of play from JBT brought the score up to 15-6 before Hotspurs won another long rally to take serve back. Good serving from Lewis King earned Hotspurs a couple of good points to take the score to 15-8. Gary Teale served well for JBT to take the score to 20-10 and Polson served out for the match at 25-10.

Most valuable players were Kevin Jones for JBT and Joe O’Connor for Harry’s Hotspurs.
