Early frogs surprise school
The frogs who live in Dunrossness Primary School’s nature area are thriving, according to the school’s eco-committee.
Members of the committee went out to the pond at the back of the school on Monday, and they discovered much in the way of activity.
Class seven pupils Yasmin Lawrence and Christopher Verdcourt-Lawrence said: “There were over 50 frogs in the pond. They were coming to the pond to mate. We saw small bunches of frog spawn.
“The frog spawn shouldn’t be around till April, but as a result of the settled weather the frog have come to the pond early. We have never seen this much activity this early before.”
