Scores of visitors turned out for the events at the start of the annual Johnsmas Foy, which this year has as its theme Shetland in the Viking world.

The event kicked off in the musuem on Thursday with an opening ceremony, followed by the launch of the Sails in St Magnus exhibition.

On Friday the Polish actors of the troupe Walhalla Vikings staged re-enactments at Scatness, followed by a Viking feast in Dunrossness hall.

This coming weekend is the Flavour of Shetland event, which will see a variety of local food and craft producers showing off their wares at Victoria Pier in Lerwick.
