Body found after major search for worker missing from North Sea platform

A body was found on Friday afternoon following a major search for an oil worker posted missing from the Shell-operted Brent Delta platform 117 miles north east of Shetland.

An RAF Nimrod co-ordinated the search, which also involved three helicopters and seven vessels. Aberdeen Coastguard received a call from the platform at 11.30am informing that the worker had been missing for an hour following a call to muster.

It is understood that a remotely-operated submersible found the body at around 2pm.
